Former captain of Pakistan cricket team and legendary cricketer Babar Azam’s bat will be kept in the long room of Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
On the well-known social media platform ‘Instagram’, Babar Azam announced this development and posted a picture with the bat and wrote in the caption ‘Legendary’. It is an honor to have my bat placed alongside cricketers’ bats.’
According to cricket reporting website ‘Cricket Pakistan’, Babar Azam was requested by the MCG management to donate his bat for the long room.
After this, Babar Azam has donated the bat used in the T20 World Cup 2022 final to the stadium.
The MCG Long Room is home to the bats and other items of legendary cricketers from around the world.
Bats by Don Bradman, David Bone, Jack Hobbs and Brian Lara are also on display in the Long Room.
Former captain Babar Azam said on this occasion that ‘It is a matter of honor for me that my bat is kept here in the long room of the MCG along with the bats of the great cricketers of the cricket world.’
On this historic occasion, Babar Azam further said that ‘I have many memories associated with the MCG, it is one of the best grounds.’
It should be remembered that Babar Azam represented Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 final against England at the MCG.
Some time ago, Babar Azam resigned from the captaincy of the Pakistan white ball team after Pakistan’s poor performance in the recent T20 World Cup, which was accepted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The new Pakistan white ball captain is Mohammad Rizwan and the Pakistan team is currently in Australia for a series of three ODIs and three T20 matches against Australia.
The first match of the ODI series between Pakistan and Australia will be played at the MCG on Monday.
