A man has been arrested after Test captain Ben Stokes’ home was burgled during his tour of Pakistan, police in England have said.
Ben Stokes said his wife and two children were at home in County Durham, northeast England, when “masked” thieves broke in and took valuables on the evening of October 17, according to the French news agency AFP.
A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary, Durham Police said.
Stokes was in Pakistan for a Test series when the incident took place.
He said that among the items stolen was a medal he had received in the 2020 New Year’s Honors List for England’s World Cup win.
Describing the theft on his personal X account, Stokes posted photos of items taken from his home, including a Christian Dior handbag, an England cricket badge, a gold ring and a bracelet.
“The worst part about this crime so far is that it was committed while my wife and two young children were at home,” he wrote.
‘Thankfully no one in my family was physically harmed. However, the experience has affected their emotional and mental state.’
‘We can only think about how much worse it could have been,’ said Ben Stokes.
England lost the Test series in Pakistan 2-1.
