An astronaut associated with the American space agency NASA has been admitted to the hospital on the basis of medical problems after returning from the International Space Station, but information regarding the illness was not provided.
According to the Associated Press, a malfunction in the Boeing capsule and then Hurricane Milton caused the astronauts to spend about eight months on the space station, two months earlier than expected.
Four astronauts, three Americans and one Russian, successfully landed on the coast of Florida on Friday.
NASA has said that the hospitalized astronaut is in stable condition, but did not release his identity.
NASA says details about the astronaut’s condition will not be released out of respect for the astronaut’s privacy.
The remaining three astronauts were discharged from the hospital after routine check-ups and have returned to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.
Due to the lack of gravity in space, it can take days and weeks for astronauts to return to normal life after returning to Earth.
The astronauts were due to return two months ago, but their return was delayed by a malfunction in Boeing’s new Starliner astronaut capsule and later by Hurricane Milton. The capsule was returned empty in September due to safety concerns.
In March, NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, Janet Epps and Russian cosmonaut Alexander Grebinkin arrived at the space station aboard SpaceX.
The space station now has a regular crew of seven, including four Americans and three Russians.
