Four people, including two Indian soldiers, have been killed in an attack by suspected militants in Indian-administered Kashmir.
According to the news agency AFP, the Indian Army has confirmed that there was a brief exchange of fire with ‘terrorists’ in the Gulmarg area near the border with Pakistan late on Thursday night.
It should be noted that three days ago, 7 workers who were working on an important tunnel being built in Indian-administered Kashmir were shot dead by armed men.
India’s ‘Chinar Corps’ army unit paid tribute to the two soldiers killed in the recent attack on social media platform X, expressing ‘condolences’ and ‘solidarity with the bereaved families’.
Two civilian porters working with the army were also killed in the attack, a local government official told AFP.
The official said Porter was traveling with soldiers when the vehicle was attacked by ambushed ‘militants’.
India has deployed around 500,000 troops in Kashmir on a permanent basis.
Delhi has always accused Pakistan of helping rebels in attacks on Kashmir, but Islamabad has denied these allegations.
Indian-administered Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed ‘serious concern’ over the recent attacks.
