Pakistan has defeated India by 6 wickets in the Super Sixes tournament in Hong Kong.
In the match at the Kowloon Cricket Club in Hong Kong on Friday, Pakistan achieved the target of 120 runs without the loss of any wicket in 5 overs.
At the start of the match, Pakistan captain Faheem Ashraf won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Batting first, India scored 119 runs for the loss of two wickets in 6 overs. Bharat Chipley scored 53 runs, captain Ruben Uthappa scored 31 runs, Manoj Tiwary scored 17 runs, Kedhar Yadav scored 8 runs and Stuart Binny scored 4 runs.
On behalf of Pakistan, captain Faheem Ashraf guided two Indian players to Poland.
Pakistan achieved the target of 120 runs set by India without losing any wicket in one over.
Pakistan’s Asif Ali played a brilliant innings of 55 runs and retired from the match.
On the other hand, Mohammad Akhlaq played an innings of 40 runs and Faheem Ashraf played an innings of 22 runs.
After this match, Pakistan have qualified for the knockout round by winning both their pool games while India have to win against the UAE team to advance to the next round.
What is the Super Sixes tournament?
According to website cricket.com, the Hong Kong Sixes tournament started 13 years before the first official T20 match. South Africa, who are yet to win an ICC trophy, have won the tournament 5 times so far.
In Super Sixes both teams have 6 players including the wicket keeper. An innings of the year 2024 edition has 6 overs in which a bowler can bowl 2 overs while the rest of the outfielders can bowl one over each.
In this format, 2 runs are awarded on wide and nine balls.
Also, if a batsman scores 50 runs, he has to retire and batting is given to the next player. If all subsequent batters are out, the player may restart the innings.
If the last player at the crease is not out, the innings does not end, but that player can use a runner, but the strike remains with him.
Pakistan, India, South Africa, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, UAE, England, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Oman are participating in Super Sixes tournament 2024.
Pakistan’s squad includes captain Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Akhlaq, Asif Ali, Danish Aziz, Hussain Talat, Aamir Yameen and Shahab Khan.
Pakistan team is included in Pool C of the tournament along with India and UAE. The top two teams from each group will play in the quarter finals.
Pakistan has reached the quarter finals by winning their first two matches against UAE and India.
The quarter-finals of the tournament will be held on November 2, while the semi-finals and finals will be held on November 3.
The Super Six tournament was started in 1993 and the last edition was played in 2017. However, after long years of waiting, the tournament has resumed in 2024.
It should be noted that legendary cricketers like Tendulkar to David Warner have also been a part of the Super Sixes tournament in the past.
