India’s world famous musician and singer AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu have separated after almost three decades.
According to Indian media, Saira Bano’s lawyer Vandana Shah on Tuesday issued an official statement regarding the separation of the couple after 29 years.
It should be noted that AR Rahman and Saira Banu were married in 1995. Both have three children including two daughters Khadija and Rahima and a son Amin.

In a statement issued by lawyer Vandana Shah, it has been said that ‘after many years of marriage, Saira Bano had to make a difficult decision to separate from her husband AR Rahman. This decision has been taken after significant emotional stress in their relationship.’
‘Despite their deep love for each other, the couple have found that stress and difficulties have created a wide rift between them, which neither party is currently able to bridge.’
According to the statement, Saira Bano says, ‘I have taken this tough decision with pain. I request privacy from the public at this difficult time as I now want to move on from this difficult time in my life.’
His son Amin also posted in this regard on the social media platform ‘Instagram’ and requested followers and fans to ‘respect his family’s privacy.’
AR Rahman and Saira Banu had an ‘arranged marriage’
Legendary musician AR Rahman had said a few years back that he had an ‘arranged marriage’ with Saira Banu and that the marriage was arranged by his mother.
In an interview with Sammy Grewal, he said, ‘Those days I was very busy and did not have enough time to go and see the girl myself.’
He further said that ‘at that time I was 29 years old and I requested my mother to find a bride for me.’
AR Rehman’s daughter Khadija got married in 2022 and on the occasion, she also shared a group photo of the family.
