Restrictions have been extended to schools, commercial markets and recreational places including parks in view of smog in Punjab province.
The Environment Protection Department has issued notifications for the extension of restrictions on Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the Punjab government on Sunday, educational institutions up to higher secondary will remain closed till November 24 or will be shifted online. While a notification has been issued to extend the closure of all commercial markets till November 24.
Apart from these, parks, zoos, historical places, playland and museums will also remain closed till November 24.
It should be noted that due to air pollution and smog on Saturday, Lahore was again ranked first among the most polluted cities in the world.
The air quality index of Lahore reached 541 while the World Air Quality Agency has declared the atmosphere of Lahore as hazardous to health.
On the other hand, DG Environment Punjab Imran Hamid Sheikh has said that all outdoor activities including sports, exhibitions and festivals will be banned till November 24. However, no restrictions will be applied to the funeral prayer.
He said that there will be a complete ban on construction activities in Multan and Lahore till November 24. Furnace oil and brick kilns will also be banned till November 24. Fireworks will be banned in Lahore district till January 31.
Apart from this, the ban on reducing staff by 50% in private and government offices in Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad and Gujranwala has been extended till January 31.
