Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf workers attacked the prisoner vans at Sangjani Toll Plaza, while four people including the son of PTI’s MPA from Peshawar have been arrested.
In a press conference in Islamabad on Friday, the Minister of Information said that the attack took place when the speed of the prisoner’s van slowed down. The attackers were riding in four vehicles. 82 absconding accused have been re-arrested.‘
He said that ’19 people tried to escape and 20 people attacked, strict legal action should be taken against the attackers so that no one can do this in the future.‘
Attaullah Tarar said that ‘PTI’s response is based on lies. Escaping prisoners is the act of criminals. Four persons have been arrested and weapons have been recovered. More arrests will be made and no one will be spared.’
Earlier, IG Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi had said that the police failed the attempt to make the prisoners escape and the escaped prisoners have been re-arrested.
He said that there were 82 accused in three prison vans who were being transferred to Attock Jail after their appearance.
According to the spokesperson of Islamabad Police, the accused in four cars attacked the prisoner vans near Sangjani Tall Plaza. The accused were armed with weapons, sticks and stones.
Four police officers were injured in the attack, while 3 attackers have been arrested. Teams have been formed to arrest the attackers.‘

SHO composed a play on Sangjani: Ali Amin Gandapur
On the government’s claim, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has said that the fake government of Form 47 should stop these plays.
He said in a video statement that we are a provincial government and as a provincial government and as citizens of Pakistan we also have some fundamental rights.
“One of our ministers, an MPA, our workers, our 1122 government officials, our police officials against whom you made fake cases, were granted bail by the court today in the Sangjani case, after which you People arrested him in an FIR of the Secretariat and then while taking him to jail, SHO Tarnool made him stand on the road by breaking the windows of the van with his hand and created a drama.‘
Ali Amin Gandapur said, ‘I am giving you a warning if you arrest anyone or anything happens to anyone, SHO Tarnool, you will be responsible.’
On the other hand, Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Babar Saleem Swatine said in a statement that ‘the mental state of these people can be gauged from the drama that SHO Thana Tarnool created near Sangjani on the orders of his masters.’
He said that ‘Our officials, a provincial minister and an MPA were re-arrested on false charges of absconding after bail. We have the videos and more videos and facts will come out in the next day or two.’
