Officials have said that 10 Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel were killed in an attack by militants on a check post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province’s Dera Ismail Khan district.
According to the French news agency AFP, the banned organization Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has claimed responsibility for the attack on Zam FC check post in Darzanda.
A senior intelligence official told AFP on condition of anonymity that the fierce exchange of fire continued for an hour.
“During the attack, 10 Frontier Constabulary personnel were martyred and seven were injured.”
Officials say 20 to 25 militants attacked the Frontier Constabulary post in Dera Ismail Khan.
The Interior Ministry has said that 10 soldiers were killed and three were injured in an attack on a Zam FC check post in Darzanda area of Dera Ismail Khan.
Six of the martyred officials belonged to South Waziristan while four belonged to Kirk district.
The injured personnel have been shifted to Dera Ismail Khan Military Combined Hospital.
The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has expressed grief over the death of 10 officials and said that ‘the bereaved families share the grief equally.’
He said that the entire nation is with the security agencies in the war against terrorism.
