Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa has been inducted as a bencher at Middle Temple, Britain’s oldest legal institution, and a ceremony has been held in his honor on October 29.
On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf UK has announced a protest outside the Middle Temple on the occasion of this event, while the party workers have started writing emails against the former Chief Justice to the Middle Temple administration.
According to the former Chief Justice’s Chamber in the Supreme Court, Qazi Faiz Isa is the first person from Pakistan to be elected as a bencher in the Middle Temple.
In a full court session held in his honor in the Supreme Court, Justice Qazi Faiz Isa had said that three generations of him have obtained law degrees from Middle Temple.
Qazi Faiz Isa’s father Qazi Isa was also a graduate of Middle Temple while Qazi Faiz Isa also completed his law education from here 42 years ago while his daughter Sahar Qazi has also completed her law degree from the same institution.
According to Supreme Court officials, former Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa was invited to attend the function in May this year.
Qazi Faiz Isa had informed the management of the Middle Temple that he could attend only after his retirement on October 25, upon which the date of the function in his honor was fixed on October 29.
On this occasion, the Middle Temple administration has also organized a dinner in honor of the benchers.
The Middle Temple is one of four historic and prestigious legal institutions in London known as the ‘Inns of Court’. Law students are trained and licensed to practice law in these institutions.
The Middle Temple was founded in the 14th century and has held an important place at the heart of the British legal system for centuries.
This institute provides training and license for lawyers to join the bar. Its members have included many important legal figures not only in the UK but also in the world. Among Middle Temple’s graduates are notable figures such as Sir Thomas More, Edmund Burke and Mahatma Gandhi.
Social media user Junaid Sahi posted on X that to be called a Brewster in the UK one has to be a member of one of the four ‘Inns of Courts’, Quaid-e-Azam was a member of ‘Lincoln’s Inn’ and now Qazi Faiz Isa at the Middle Temple Inn. Being inducted as a Bencher is a greater honor than being a Member.

On an occasion when Qazi Faiz Isa has been inducted as a bencher in the Middle Temple, Tehreek-e-Insaaf has announced a protest against the former chief justice outside the institution.
In this regard, not only the local leadership of the party in Britain has been mobilized, but the central leadership has also given a call to the workers to join this protest.
Former Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri has also appealed to the Pakistani community living in the UK to join the protest.

It should be noted that the former Chief Justice had left for London along with his family to participate in this event the day after his retirement. The pictures of his departure in the plane were also viral on social media.
