PIA Privatization, ‘FBR did not get the support it wanted’

Federal Minister for Privatization Aleem Khan has said that PIA will be privatized again by eliminating extras.
A meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Privatization was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Senator Talal Chaudhry.
Privatization Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, while briefing the committee, said that after consulting the Prime Minister, he will proceed with the process of privatization again.
He told the committee that PIA’s total loss was Rs 830 billion while liabilities of Rs 623 billion were transferred to PIACL.
He said that business to business will talk about selling PIA shares.
According to the Privatization Minister, before privatization, the institutions should be made attractive so that everyone buys them.
Aleem Khan said that the FBR did not get the required support on the privatization of PIA. ‘FBR has not shown flexibility, all institutions have to contribute.’
He further said that the condition of PIA is being made worse so that it is not privatized.
“We have learned not to privatize any enterprise with losses. For the future, the government will have to learn to make institutions effective.
Aleem Khan while giving further briefing to the committee said that currently 39 to 40 institutions have come in the list of privatisation.
Committee member Senator Khaleda Tayyab said that ‘when the bids for PIA did not come, now you are starting to think.’

The protest will continue until the demands are accepted: Ali Amin Gandapur

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has said that the call for November 24 protest was given by former Prime Minister Imran Khan himself.
A consultative meeting of party parliamentarians and organizational officials was held under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur late on Sunday night.
The Chief Minister held separate meetings of parliamentarians and other party leaders from Hazara, Malakand, Peshawar and South regions.
In these meetings, the arrangements and plan of action for the November 24 protest were discussed.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said that ‘this is the final and decisive call, this protest will continue until all demands are accepted.’
He said that to make this protest a success, full force should be applied and no matter what, there should be no retreat.
All preparations and arrangements should be finalized in time to evacuate as many people as possible to Islamabad for the protest. Inshallah, like before, the November 24 protest will also be successful and we will be able to fulfill our demands.

Smog situation improved, decision to open educational institutions in Rawalpindi division from tomorrow

It has been decided to open all the educational institutions in Rawalpindi Division when the smog situation improves.
The notification has been issued by the Director General of Environment Department, Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh.
According to the notification, the educational institutions of Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal will open as usual from November 19.
Physical attendance of students and staff will be mandatory in educational institutions of Rawalpindi Division.
Educational institutions in Murree district are already open and will remain open as usual.
According to the notification, due to improvement in the environmental situation, the ban was lifted in Rawalpindi Division.

Attempts to spread unrest will not succeed: Rana Tanveer

Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain has said that efforts are being made to protest and long march to harm the economic stability of the country.
Talking to journalists in Meredke on Sunday, he said that efforts to spread unrest and disorder on November 24 will not succeed like previous efforts.
The federal minister said that Pakistan is an independent state and foreign interference in our internal affairs cannot be accepted.
