Militants attacked a mosque during Maghrib prayers in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, in which Pakistan Army cadets lost their lives.
According to a press release issued by ISPR on Friday, Cadet Arifullah was also there to offer prayers in the same mosque.
Arifullah was undergoing training at the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul and had come to his hometown on leave.
According to ISPR, ‘As soon as the Khawarij started firing, they responded immediately and fought the Khawarij bravely. However, 19-year-old cadet Arifullah sacrificed his life and saved the lives of many innocent worshipers.
“Such a heinous and cowardly act of attacking worshipers while praying in a mosque reflects the true ideology of these militants.”
It was further said that ‘the brave act of a young cadet is a testament to the spirit of sacrifice and dedication of the men of the security forces to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country and such sacrifices strengthen our resolve.’
GC Arifullah is survived by his parents, four brothers and four sisters. Arifullah’s elder brother is also serving in Pakistan Army.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur expressed regret over the attack and said that Cadet Arifullah fought the terrorists bravely and sacrificed his life to save others, the nation is proud of such brave sons. The bereaved family share in the grief equally.
