‘Record increase in IT exports’ in first four months of current financial year

Pakistan’s Minister of State for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja has said that there has been a record increase in IT exports of the country.

Minister of State Shaza Fatima Khawaja said while holding a press conference in Islamabad on Monday that ‘in the first four months of the current fiscal year, there has been a record 34.9% increase in IT export shipments.’

He said that ‘IT exports from July to October have reached 1.206 billion dollars, while IT exports in the same period of the last financial year were 894 million dollars.’
In October 2024, IT exports increased by $330 million. IT exports increased by 38.6 percent compared to the month of October last year. IT exports in October last financial year were 238 million dollars.

Shaza Fatima said that, on the instructions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the government is taking steps to increase IT exports. Ministry of IT, Pakistan Software Export Board, IT industry with full support of SIFC are trying to increase IT exports.

Sparco opens Resolve R&D Lab in Pakistan

To enhance Pakistan’s space technology and research capabilities, Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SPARCO) on Monday inaugurated its state-of-the-art ‘Resolve R&D Lab’.

According to a statement issued by Sparco, the lab has been established at the National Center for Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics (NCRG), Sparco Complex, Karachi.

Sindh Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Professor Dr. Tariq Rafi attended the inauguration ceremony of the lab as the chief guest.

According to the statement, Sparco has established a state-of-the-art research and development center under ‘RESOLU’ (Research Solutions and Ventures) at the National Center for Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics (NCRG) in Karachi. This new R&D setup plans to establish technological research labs in North, Central and South Pakistan to provide a platform for collaboration between academia and industry. These labs are equipped with high-performance computing resources that will help researchers solve complex and reality-based challenges.’

‘Resolve’ will focus on a variety of areas including space avionics, artificial intelligence, image processing, robotics, software defined systems, materials and composite structures, and aerodynamics.
