What is parathyroid and what kind of problems can it cause?
To find out the answer to this question, Urdu News contacted Prof. Dr. Salman Sherwani, head of the medicine department of Sialkot Medical College, and he said, ‘Parathyroid is a gland in the throat that produces hormones.
It is located right next to the thyroid and performs similar functions. In particular, the amount of calcium in the body is controlled by this gland. Any type of disorder may cause hyper or hypocalcemia, which reduces the amount of calcium in the body. which can cause bone and heart diseases.’
Dr. Salman continued and said that ‘In case of hyperthyroidism, the only way is to remove it by surgery, while in case of hypothyroidism, it is treated with hormone therapy. Similarly, the chances of cancer or tumor in this part are also very high. Which is a complicated process.’
