In view of the increase in environmental pollution in Pakistan and especially the worse condition of Lahore’s smog, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has appealed to the nation to pray for rain.
According to a statement issued by the press wing of the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has requested the nation to perform Istiqa prayer and to ask Allah Almighty for rain.
He asked the Ulemas and Mshaikhs to play their role especially in the organization of Istiqa prayers. Rainfall will improve the environment and can help a lot in getting rid of diseases.
The Prime Minister further said that Istiqa prayers should be organized in all the mosques under the auspices of the federation and provinces, there is a dire need for rain in the current situation.
After the appeal by the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has also issued a notification regarding performing Istiqa prayers across the country.
It should be noted that the Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted strong winds and rain in the upper regions of the country from Thursday to Saturday.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of snowfall in the hilly areas on Friday and Saturday, while a series of westerly winds are expected to enter the upper regions of the country from Thursday.
Similarly, between Thursday and Friday, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Lahore are also likely to experience light rain with strong winds and thundershowers.
According to the meteorological department, there is a possibility of rains in Punjab from November 14 to 16.
Rains are forecast in Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Mianwali, Khushab, and Sargodha.
Bhakkar, Leh and Dera Ghazi Khan are also likely to receive thundershowers on Thursday, while the smog is also expected to reduce due to possible rains.
