The training camp of the national hockey team has been postponed due to heavy smog in Lahore.
The training camp for the national players to participate in the China Hockey League to be played in Hangzhou, China from November 11 to 21 was held at the National Hockey Stadium.
According to Pakistan’s official TV, the hockey training camp was temporarily stopped due to smog across Punjab, including Lahore, in light of the government’s instructions.
Even today, smog reigns in various areas of South Punjab including Multan
Smog reigns in various areas of South Punjab including Multan today on Saturday as well. The Punjab government has banned public entry to all parks, sports grounds, historical places, monuments and museums across the province.
The air quality index of provincial capital Lahore has increased from 750. According to the provincial environment protection department, the average air quality index of different areas of the city during the last 24 hours has been 569, which is dangerous for human health.
According to experts, the intensity of smog has increased due to the winds coming from the east, the decrease in temperature and the increase in humidity in the air. Due to the increase in air pollution, along with reduction in visibility, citizens are also facing breathing problems and other diseases. To avoid the harm of smog, the Environment Protection Department has appealed to the people to keep the windows and doors of the houses closed and not to leave the house unnecessarily. It has been directed to use masks as well as goggles while leaving the house in unavoidable circumstances.
Another case of polio confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province
A 28-month-old child has been infected with polio virus in Union Council Bahran of Tehsil Darazinda of Dera Ismail Khan district. This is the third polio case in Dera Ismail Khan this year.
The number of polio cases in the province has increased to 10, including three from Dera Ismail Khan district, two each from Lucky Marwat and Kohat, while one each from Mohmand, Tank and Nowshera districts.
The total number of polio cases across the country this year has reached 48, in which 23 from Balochistan, 13 from Sindh, 10 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while one polio case has been reported from Punjab and the federal capital Islamabad.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Implementation of solarization project to overcome power crisis
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has started implementing the flagship solarization project to overcome the power crisis.
In a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s office, it has been said that 130,000 deserving families will be provided with solar systems.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said that solar systems are being provided to reduce the burden of huge electricity bills on the citizens.
He said that in providing solar system, priority will be given to those areas where load shedding is high, while shifting the government buildings to solar energy will result in substantial savings in terms of electricity bills.
