A suicide attack on a check post in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan has killed eight people, including four policemen, while many others have been injured.
On Saturday, police officials said that the explosion targeted the check post and the vehicle of the security forces, after which the injured were immediately shifted to Miran Shah Hospital.
Police say that the suicide attack was carried out by a rickshaw.
Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saleem Swati said in a statement that North Waziristan regrets the loss of precious lives in the suicide attack.
He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police always stood in the forefront against these cowardly acts.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, while condemning the suicide attack on the post, said that he pays tribute to the sacrifice of the police personnel and expresses his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families.
Mohsin Naqvi said that the brave sons of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have cultivated peace with their blood.
After the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, terrorist activities have increased in Pakistan. Pakistan alleges that militant groups have taken refuge in Afghanistan.
According to AFP, an unknown militant group calling itself ‘Black War’ claimed responsibility for the attack.
Another check post near the Afghan border was attacked by the Pakistani Taliban this week, killing 10 policemen.
According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, the country saw more suicide attacks last year than any year since 2014. 29 suicide attacks were registered in the year in which 329 people were killed.
